My name is Andrea Cacciola, I am a documentary wedding photographer based in Calabria, just across the water from Sicily. My approach means I do not direct, I do not pose, I do not interrupt. I observe, I move, I shoot when something real happens. I know Sicily well, I have worked many times across this island, in its most iconic locations and in its lesser-known ones, and I understand how to read the extraordinary light of this part of the Mediterranean in every season.

Sicily, an island that never stops surprising
Photographing a wedding in Sicily means working in a region that offers one of the most extraordinary varieties of settings in the world. The Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, provides a backdrop that no other location in Italy can match. Syracuse and its island of Ortigia, with baroque palaces and the sea on every side, is one of the most beautiful places in the Mediterranean for a wedding. Taormina, perched above the Ionian Sea with Mount Etna on the horizon, has been drawing couples from across the world for generations. Noto, with its golden baroque architecture, is a city that seems designed specifically to be photographed. And then there are the less obvious choices: the white cliffs of Scala dei Turchi near Agrigento, the wild coast of Punta Bianca, the Aeolian Islands with Stromboli smoking in the distance, the ancient masserie and wine estates of the interior.
I have worked across Sicily and I know that particular quality of Mediterranean light, the way it hits ancient stone differently at every hour of the day, the wildness of the coastline, the warmth of the people. Every part of this island has something to tell, and my job is to be ready when it does.
How I work during a wedding in Sicily
I work alone or with a second photographer when the wedding requires it. When possible I reach the location in advance, to learn it in the right light before the wedding day. I do not have a fixed style imposed on everyone. I adapt to the couple, to the day, to the atmosphere. What remains constant is discretion and attention to the details that would otherwise go unnoticed: a parent’s glance, a hand held tight, a real laugh in the middle of the chaos.
Choosing Sicily for your wedding is already a choice of character. My job is to tell that story the way it deserves.

Do you travel across Sicily for weddings?
Yes. Agrigento, Syracuse, Taormina, Noto, Palermo, Catania, the Aeolian Islands, Lampedusa: I know the island and I am available for weddings throughout Sicily. If you have chosen a specific location, contact me, I have very likely worked there before.
How many photos do you deliver for a wedding in Sicily?
It depends on the length of the day and what happens. On average for a full wedding day I deliver between 400 and 600 selected and edited photographs. I do not deliver everything I shoot. I make a careful selection because every photo delivered needs to earn its place.
Do you work in the smaller islands around Sicily?
Yes. I have already photographed a wedding in Lampedusa and I am available for weddings in Pantelleria, Linosa and the Aeolian Islands. If you have chosen one of these islands, contact me, they are extraordinary locations and exactly the kind of work I love most.
